Why is it acceptable to include the word "cognac" on a hotel restaurant menu, but have to enthrall about "fermented grape beverage" two pages prior? And have a sandwich page listing "turkey ham" and (normal) "ham" with no vital asterisk to mark the latter's severe haram-itude?

Such is the general, incomprehensible village idiocy of Abu Dhabi.

But the Capital is doing one great thing: the construction of Grand Mosque. This massive edifice of domes and minarets will be a huge regional landmark. The days of cathedral-building are long gone in the West, at least the Gulf is still cashed up enough to fund magnificence in the Modern Age.
