Anna Nicole in Dubai
If the indignity of having half a dozen different men fighting over the paternity of her baby wasn't enough, it has now been revealed that tragic Anna Nicole Smith was planning a trip to Dubai:
The report quotes an unidentified source in Dubai who was arranging for Smith's move to Dubai. "Howard knew she was around drugs all the time and wanted to bring her to a place where there aren't any."
Yep. No drugs in Dubai. None at all. Not so much as a tiny (seven-sided) flake of snow.

SD - in comparison to the EU and North America, yes UAE is far far far more drug free. I do realize with movement of people in & out of the UAE, the drug factor is coming more into play in the country - however don't you think it's still nothing like EU & North American high schools and clubs etc all?
PS: do you have to be so hard on the UAE in almost every post? Just asking - that's all : )
I was watching this discussion on Fox News (don't blame me, it is juicy) last night. Then they brought in a Dubai 'expert' and he talked about how Sharjah is an absolute drug/prostitute state...blah blah. Then someone else mentioned how Dubai is so opposed to drugs that they have the death penalty, and then they went on to talk about how Austin got off last year, after plenty of pull from the US govt....etc etc.
Drugs were easily available in Dubai during the 70's and 80's when we had a population of 150 (it felt like that).
Anna Nicole Smith should have been appointed Queen of Dubai. As it is, the place could be a memorial to her.
So, where can I get some drugs in Dubai?
Howard would have been in 7th heaven - all those prescription drugs, (apparently found in the hotel room with his name on the bottles), would have been available to him in Dubai without prescription.
The pharmacy would even deliver them to him!
Sharjah is an absolute drug/prostitute state
Say What?
Damn it Dubai missed out on the opportunity to get a Trim Spa franchise
Rosh, pardon me, but are you kidding or you have sold your brain to UAE, or burnt it in the desert??? Now, they even advertise Dubai as drug-free using the poor Anna Nicole!!! Drug-prostitution-sex are free here, darling, as everywhere. Death penalty??? Ha, ha, maybe if you don't have enough money or if you are not an investor.
NZM, you are right, all drugs without prescription. Do you know how money doctors travel to UAE full of legal drugs?
"Drugs were easily available in Dubai during the 70's and 80's when we had a population of 150 (it felt like that)."
Duh what are you on cg : )
But serioudly, where did you come up with this ? I've never SEEN drugs in Sharjah or the rest of the UAE anytime in the 70's or 80's and even the early to mid 90's?? Perhaps I am missing something here?

Freshfruit - respectfully this "was" a clean/safe country - including NO drugs. I was born and raised in the UAE. Have lived in there 25+ years and I have never seen drugs in schools or the gyms or sports clubs (I am talking of the 70's, 80's and early/mid 90's UAE.)
Today perhaps it is a different nation. And yes, like I said - with influx of people/immigration etc things are changing. However I agree with you - the government and powers-that-be (and residents like you) should do more to keep the nation drug free.
Maybe in the past Rosh, not now. It's more than a year I'm here, I believed it was a different place but it's a brothel, guy. Do you really believe in police and government? Some weeks ago I posted here about a certain Saukonen having harassed a patient. The poor thing filed a claim and Dubai Police did nothing. How can I believe in Dubai Police? How can I believe that his place is drug free when I know that certain well-known westerners introduce illegal pills but they are untouchable. As you say it was ok when you were five people and a desert, but it was not me who made the laws to exercise a fatal attraction on foreigners. As you said US and Europe are worst, but don’t try to make me believe this is a paradise…
i heard JORDAN and PETER ANDRE were declined from doing a video shoot in dubai..
Why? Are they worst from anyone round here?
From 7days: "An Iranian national has been sentenced to death in Sharjah after being convicted of drug trafficking. The convict who was identified as 45-year-old GZ was the only one among nine defendants to be condemned for smuggling 282 kilogrammes of hashish from Iran to Saudi Arabia through the UAE.
Seven other defendants were also Iranian, while the eighth was Saudi Arabian.
They were all found not guilty. The court heard that GZ smuggled the drugs into the country via his own boat before loading them onto another vessel. He was arrested and charged after officers found him with the drugs hidden in his car in the emirate"
I'm sure he would have another treatment if his name was 'Sir Lawford' or "Michael Jackson"...
Rosh,
I have always known/heard about drugs here in Dubai. Especially during the 80's. Everywhere we went we seemed to be offered something. Even at school it was available to those who wanted it.
You must have lived a very quiet life.
Now I don't get offered anything, but I have heard about the dealing going on in school car parks.
Last week I saw (after my daughter pointed them out) a couple in Jumeirah College uniform rolling on the grass behind a bus stop in Jumeirah. They were either having a very intense snog or they were at it. Next to them were another group in the same uniform smoking what looked very much like a joint. 2 pm on a Thursday afternoon.
Maybe Haward’s intentions behind bringing Nicole to Dubai were not about the drugs as he said. I doubt there is a drug-free country in this world.
Peter Andre and Jordan are actually filming for a program here. But they were denied from filming or entering The World project .. hehehe
Is Dubai so desperate for publicity it has to invite or ban entrance to silicone enhanced bimbos who are famous for either showing their knockers or marrying billionaires?
Sad.
Very sad.
I left Dubai after 11 years because of the ridiculous rising costs and all the other reasons oft-covered herein.
That they refused Jordan and Peter Andre entry to The World makes me want to come back!
Oh, just remembered, road tolls and Jim Davidson.
Nah.
Hey everybody,
I'm not a resident of Dubai, yet, I'm frequenting the city so often.
Dubai is not a paradise or desired destination for the drug users, I'm positive. On the other hand, it's not a drug-free state. The drugs are available to the people who are well connected to the right people in the arena, and I don't see any odd. The way that State Security Executives promote the emirate is misleading the public.
I believe that every participant in this thread knows that Dubai is an oasis to the sex workers as well as paid sex seekers, and what I know about this particular issue is much more important than all the information published by UN & other concerned NGO's.
Cheers...

I've never seen so much colombian marching powder as I have there!
No drugs in Dubai? Well you guys don't go to the right place then - well weed i hard to find but hash and brown sugar are there!
and you will see some wores on drugs in club...
PPl on the peter andre bit ,I know a friend at The dxb airport and he was caught with a load of girlie mags and a few didldos. And was ASKED to leave.
I been here for over 30+ years and personally havent seen any drugs .I hear about them and am sure there are around ,but its not in your face all the time .I'm sure its only in a very few limited circles and the club scene .I stopped frequenting clubs around the mid-late 90's and never saw any drugs .
It far easy to stay away from them and they don't come looking for you .
which clubs can i go to for 'colombian marching powder' or hash? Who can i ask for it in these clubs?
For Sharjah, isn't it dry? meaning no clubs? where woul i go there?
I lived in Dubai when (80-84)and had a good introduction to drugs there. With the mix of workers it was easy to get pot from India such as temple balm, Thai Grass, Opium and heroin from Pakistan, Acid from UK xpats you could also buy off local Arabs, I was 15 and used to buy pot there with ease and used to smoke it with my fellow young friends & students at the age of 15.
