Amman is one of those cities certain to be wonderful, due to the amount of people slagging it off, and the outstanding tepid recommendations in most guidebooks. Set on several hills, it is both lovely and varied. The taxis are cheap, driving is terrifying and resembles a multi-lane rollercoaster with no traffic lights.
