Mobile crime
The real tragedy in this sad little crime tale is not the loss of a mobile phone. Nor the selling of a stolen phone for a crap price. Nor even the arrest and imprisonment of a stupid Bangladeshi thief.
It is the fact that someone with a full-time job in supposedly one of the world's most rapidly advancing cities is so poorly paid that they feel it is worth risking two years in jail and deportation for 150 dirhams:
"During questioning, the 23-year-old confessed he had stolen the phone. He admitted that when he saw the phone on the shop's counter, he stole it. He then went and sold it for Dh150."
