A grave error
Canoodling among the corpses: two months in Al Slammer for an amorous Indian couple who spent "private moments" in a bath used to wash dead bodies:
"Othman's friend Monyer R, 35, a security guard at the cemetery, let the couple into the normally well guarded building used to prepare the bodies of the deceased according to Islamic ritual, which entails washing and dressing the corpses in white robes for burial.
"However, a policeman making his usual late night rounds of the services building at the cemetery noticed that the lights were still on in the room and caught them in the act."

gross!
Voyeurism at its best! Gross isn't the word, tasteless is. My response is only to register my complaint, this story wasn't worth the bandwidth.
SD, your blog has taken a bizare turn. i prefer your comments on the important things that are happening in Dubai.
a morbid passtime...
but hey 'whatever rocks their boat'
Indian Goths, eh? Whatever next? Iranian hippies? Filipino skihheads? Saudi rockabilies?
nadeem, I tend to agree with you here. SD, I am a bit disappointed with this particular piece. You realize you are not as free as you were when no one was reading your blog. Now, you have an audience with demands ;)
To anon@12.10
Whatever next, you ask? Why not EUROPEAN SKANK? Oh sorry, we already have enough of that here!
Change of topic i know, but did anyone ever hear of the bomb located at the ‘supermarket fequented mainly by Europeans and Americans’? So says the American hohum
Nadeem and Mohamed: anything goes in here - business/politics/sex/the surreal! It's all Dubai, after all: the world's wildest playground.
I think the best entry this year was the Comely Camel one ;)
Hey...check out my last blog...as i have mentioned the cases that prove that men and women have been really horny in the past month..heheh...check it out on my blog http://gautamjgoesplaces.blogspot.com/
I just wanted to clarify that my blog captioned " Its really hot this winter in UAE" was not to joke about the rape cases but infact to question what is said about the security in this country....im sorry if i unintentionally hurt anyone...im a amatuer blogger give me chance...Cheers
SD, if there was no 'anything goes here' philosophy, I wouldn't be reading the blog, neither would I be posting comments ;) Also, if I am not to be occasionally disappointed, I wouldn't know when I am pleased.
Though, yes, it is a bit of a diturbing entry.
SD - we should do a "best of 2005" for the UAE blogger community
things like; best post, best comment, most serious blogger, most active blogger, funniest, best photo, best graphic ... etc ;)
Moryati - that is a good idea!
I already have a best-story thing planned for New Year's Eve, but something on the blogger community would be good. Want to set it up on UAE community or somewhere?
SD also a best of the worst of newspaper stories would be appreciated.
That's kind of what I was planning, only it's very short. Someone might want to do a more extensive Review of the Year.
Not really the case here, but it reminds me of the maxim:
Necrophilia means...
never having to say you're sorry!
i know anything goes but i like some of seccys other stuff. this is amusing for the 'holiday season' but really of lower calibre than what seccy can provide. the thing is, she has opted to do this story, bot forced to, and yes it is her blog and she can cry if she wants to.
a review would be great
a best of would be great as well, maybe a vote on the community website, if someone could easily set that up:
best blogger, best story etc. you can get these free survey things like webmonkey. it would so much fun.
i think emirate should do the review of the year. he'll be properly harsh
someone objective like grapeshisha should do the review, but then it might get a little serious. maybe she could do it with dubai drama queen, and you would get a good balance. hahahahhahahaha
how/when can we start on this "best of 2005"?
Hey its good to be back reading Dubai's very public secrets again!
(Please know that I am not commenting on this Indian couple specifically.) When I was studying in New York, I happened to watch a sex show on HBO. It is truly amazing how diverse human behavior and preferences are. One couple would always have to do it in public. They couldn't do without it, they said their relationship thrived on it. Sex isn't about being private anymore. It is getting to be more about the thrill and rush of playing hide 'n seek. People don't want to just play among themselves, they want to interact with their environment and get recognized for it.
It doesn't surprise me that people may be seeking more novelty in times where they have to keep up with so much. I'd bet you that if this couple was never caught in the act before this instance, they probably will have said to themselves, "For the times we didn't get caught, those moments were worth living for!!"
balushi, you are the worst blogger and the most annoying tosha of this decade.
Moryarti, I think it's a great idea to have these 2005 blogger awards! Can we vote?
