Mysteries, Ancient and Modern
Ancient mystery:
"Meanwhile, a Japanese team of archeologists has concluded its six-week survey in Khorfakan reporting discoveries that include Islamic artifacts dating to 14th and 15th centuries BC."
Erm... when was Islam founded?
Modern mystery:
"The Dubai hotel which Nayak is said to own in partnership with an NRI was described by a source as 'the mother of all dance bars'. "
Anyone know where this is? Apparently "you can enjoy the wine and belly dancing in one hall and if you are bored, you can switch to another hall, where you have Indian girls dancing to Hindi film music." The proprietors of Cyclones must be trembling in their sandals.

Anything, absolutely anything to get a toe through the doors of bukingham palace.
Not in your dreams Mr. AM, not in your dreams....
14th BC !! its a mistake for sure ! maybe preislamic rather than islamic
He3! Hilarious.. What a dumb mistake, especially as "preIslamic" can't be said either as both Christianity and Judaism were born from the same region.
Love the comment about the Cyclone proprietors.
I remeber seing Cyclone banners on the Nad Al Shiba race course few years back - splashed all over the track sponsoring one of the race days. All in front of the VIP seating area full of head honchos. Guess it means Cyclone is an officially approved institution around here.
Cyclone is offically approved. When you go there and buy an entry ticket, it is stamped with the seal and name of the tourism authority.
Goodness me, that is so awful and disgusting, everyone knows that Cyclone is the worst place...

I meant 'officially approved'.. ;-)
why is cyclone disgusting ? away with ye stuffy attitude. jus a place for boys n gals to have a little fun together. people are well behaved, and the girls occasionally put get loose and dance the night away. can't say yhe same for the bull goons who hang around tryin' to look cool n detached..
Well Cyclone is like the York, the Regal Plaza (upstairs) and all the other places which house, solicit and allow hookers to operate their business freely. We all like a bit of fun and I am definitely not stuffy, but hookers bars are disgusting.
yes, hooker bars are disgusting when you can instead go to Waxy's and hook up with some drunk Brit chick for free...
Well at least then the Brit chick and the guy pickin her up do know that its on mutual grounds and not offering a service for payment. Besides, remember where we are, the internet is still censoered but hookers are allowed to operate freely. It doesnt really make sense, does it??
From what I understand, Arab women don't particularly mind their husbands using the services of hookers since the hookers will do things the wives will not. I have been told Arab wives even encourage it to an extent, as long as it is discreet.
Well does anyone think about HIV/AIDS? I dont want to know how many have it and dont even know about it.. especially if the men go to hookers!
I've come up with different meanings for BC and AD for this part of the world. I feel it's far more relevant -
BC - Before Crude - a dark age of nothing to do but bling your camel and sit around a lot.
AD - After Drilling - Wahey! Party time, now there's nothing to do but bling your Land Cruiser and sit around a lot.
