No wonder "happy" weddings are so popular:

"Around 14,000 expatriate workers in the UAE have no known gender, said Dr Khalid Al Khazraji, labour undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs."

That's just funny. I needed the uplifting post after the overloaded one on marriage.

No doubt the vast majority are males.

In reference to your previous post that suggests that castration might be an appropriate punishment.

I was there when Al Khazraji pointed out the genderless thing, and we all had a bit of a laugh, but he was quick to tell us that it didn't mean there were 14,000 castrated people in the UAE, or more excitingly, 14,000 homaphrodites. It did appear to be a problem with the electronic forms, which I think they are working on now.

I guess that if they are looking into the electronic problem it'll just be a case of a snip here and a snip there and all will be well.
