Hot and bothered

With all the hoo-hah, hypocrisy and huff going on in our midst, it is important not to overlook a real tragedy that took place this week in Sharjah. The poor Bermudan cricket team has been completely annihilated by the UAE's men-in-white. Delving a little deeper into the reports unearths why:

"When we got out I think for both of us it was sheer exhaustion. It was pretty hot out there."

Oh dear. It's not "pretty hot" in the sandlands at the moment, in fact it's not even hot. It is midwinter Arctic for anyone acclimatised to the actual Gulf summer - which presumably includes the Emirates eleven. The poor players from chilly Bermuda may be fainting as the mercury nudges past seventy fahrenheit, but the average UAEan is buttoning up their fur-lined greatcoat and blowing on their icy fingers.

As a courtesy to the poor vanquished guests, perhaps the final game could be relocated to the new indoor ski slope?

Don't you like the way they said they they don't like to make excuses and then made every excuse including previous injuries, weather and unfamiliar conditions.

Hot? yeh right. Invite them back in July.

At least Bermuda didn't ask for the opponent's clarification of nationality. That would real sour grapes.

Hot and cold are all relative. It was 12C in Toronto the other day and kids at UofT were wearing shorts!

Thanks Trailingspouse...
And SD why are you so bitter from the UAE people...I am doing my postgrad studies in Canada, I have Canadian friends in Abu Dhabi, and after living here for four years they think our winter is chilly...
So please take it easy on my people..they are friendlier than many other people I have met in "other countries"...

I think you totally misunderstood this post. It isn't making any comment on UAE people, positive or negative.

I suggest that you read the full blog - all the archives - and then make more informed comments.

Greetings SD,

Looks like sour grapes to me... the weather (link that you provided) for Bermuda reveals 70F weather out there as well... Oh well, they're horrible at the game so... 'blame it on the weather'!
