Is there anything more revoltingly transparent and mendacious than (usually rich, white, privileged) people raising "sponsorship" money so they can go and have an expensive adventure holiday while claiming it's for charity? Exactly how does it benefit African AIDS orphans or landmine victims for some twat to scale Everest or wank themselves into a transcendental frot in some remote Tibetan Monastery?
Allison and Elise are the latest. They plan to drive a Mini Cooper from Paris to Dubai, claiming it's all about "strengthening ties between the Middle East and Europe":
"We are still looking for sponsors: adventurous companies, people who will trust our project and our values."
"We are confident the generosity and leading vision of UAE companies will give us the last impulse to go."
What an apocalyptic pile of crap. You're clearly well-fed, well-dressed, and well-paid in your cushy paleface expat jobs (you wouldn't be sweating it out in the sandlands otherwise, would you?) If you want to do your self-proclaimed Thelma-and-Louise wanktrip from Paris to Dubai, then come up with the Dh29,000 funds yourself.
Drop the shit about bringing "a true image of the Middle East" to Europe. Are you taking any Middle Easterners with you in your (luxury) car? No. Even your sponsor admits it's just an "opportunity to have its name plastered across the countries the girls will travel through."

I have no clue. As far as I could tell in the picture, they were both dark-haired.
But if I was going to make some sort of "awareness" pigrimage from east to west, I'd start off by doing it on foot. I'd backpack. I'd stay at low-budget places, take thousands of photos, try to meet local people wherever possible (and translators permitting) and I'd blog every bit of it. Maybe I'd buy a small videocamera to make a short documentary at the end of it. Maybe the blog could even become a book.
I would save up the money myself for the cost of food, transport and accommodation, and anything extra people wanted to donate I would give to a named charity, which would be advertised on the blog.
And if it was hard, and shitty, and uncomfortable, I would try to remember that I wasn't doing this for a nice holiday, but to learn something, and to teach others something.

As SD correctly points out, this is a pretty transparent way of getting someone else to pay for your holiday. Why, you ask, are they planning on doing the trip in 12 days? Because they've only got 2 weeks vacation coming.
If these women are as ditzy as they seem, good luck with Iran and Eastern Turkey. Anyway, how slow of a newsday would it have to be for them to get any coverage anywhere that has actual news? This is, if possible, less interesting than Angelina Jolie's baby. Of course, they might manage to get themselves arrested or taken hostage or something. I suppose that'd be good for a few inches.

I would have figured a trip to bring awareness to the Middle East would actually involve a Middle Eastern country. The route appears to start in Dubai, but their next stop is Iran, which means they will travel through Turkey and on to Europe. I guess they meant awareness of the Greater Middle East, as there are no Arab countries on their route except the UAE.

It's really nice that at such a difficult time as this when most of us are feeling quite down about the Middle East and Lebanon and people suffering that you have your lovely holiday memories to take your mind off things. It's the perfect time for you to mention them and bring a little sunshine in to all our lives as we bask vicariously in your happy memories rather than remember the more serious and tragic aspects of the Middle East.
