Its amazing how stuck up people get over the years. When my dad first got to the UAE, he was among many newly arrived bachelors and he never experienced such discrimination. He had a great time, as well as the other expats who were, as I've said before, pioneers in this new and foreboding land. Now there seems to be this huge backlash against people who, for some reason or another, do not have a wife. They assume men are all perverts until they get married - if a man is a pervert before he gets married - he'll stay a pervert long after he ties the knot.
So I repeat to those still trapped in the UAE - LEAVE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
Crap like this is exactly why I left Dubai for North America. I really get a kick out of Arabs in North America whining about how they are being profiled and discriminated against while in their own lands, they can't extend some of the most basic courtesy towards others!

Sumo - funny you mention that. An oil company used to rent out the flat above my present one in Bur Dubai. It served as a furnished rotating residence, with various workers (usually white) moving in every two months.
On at least two occasions, the resident came home piss drunk, banging on doors and shouting for the occupants to 'bring out the women'.
Another night, two brits brought in at least five prostitutes from the Astoria. I bet there was good times to be had by all that evening.
But of course, these ones are morally a-ok because they're fully dressed.
A house full of twenty-something bachelor brits would cause WAY more problems and offensive behavior than a house full of "subcontinents"! LOL!

May I remind you "anonymous", that North America had quite a history with creating so-called "bachelors" from the Far East in the recent past. How was the West won?? How was the railway across the Rocky built?
This practice only stopped after the second world war, practiced in both Canada and United States.

The reason people ogle isnt because they had a strict upbringing, but because they hadn't. Dirty, smelly and animal-like in their absense of restraint and manners, these "bachelors" need basic social etiquette training before being allowed to work in a city.
I wish that instead of hiring these baboons for cheap, the Arabs of Dubai extended these same jobs to Egyptians, Syrians, Turks, Algerians, Moroccans, Palestinians, etc and other direct neighbours who are suffering massive unemployment in their countries and who would contribute to a better society in Dubai.
But when hiring 100 indians is equivalent to 10 arabs, and 10 arabs to 1 westerner on the dubai market, things are unlikely to change. Better board that balcony up.
