The Samurai's lament

"There used to be such a wide range, but now there is so little choice and the quality is much reduced," the Samurai complained as he took a long drag of his shisha at a recent meeting.

His international clients, particularly the Saudis, are also upset by the increasingly limited range of merchandise that Dubai has offer. "Before you could get whatever you wanted," the Samurai explained. "From any nation, very beautiful, so many different ones to choose from all over Dubai. But not any more."

And with Dubai police's ongoing crackdown, the market will be even more depleted:

Dubai - More than 4,000 prostitutes were deported from the UAE last year, according to the Director of Human Rights Department at Dubai police. Colonel Mohammad Al-Mir said that 4,300 women were arrested and subsequently charged with prostitution and deported.

The Samurai does not buy the merchandise for himself, he provides it as a necessary part of the Arabian hospitality that must be offered to visiting business associates.

Well for every 4000 they deport, probably another 4000 are coming in, nobody is regulating it, they dont have residence visas and only stay for 2-3 months on visitsand I dont want to know the STDs spread everywhere...
Something should be done about it, or a controlled and regulated red light district should be opened.

We already have all kinds of crazy developmental projects here in Dubai. The last thing we need is a "Prostitution City" or "Whore Ranches"!

Although, I have a feeling such property would sell like hot cakes. Faster than you could say jhig-jhig :P

I guess this policy complies with all other :visions:.

Dubai is not a place for cheapskates. Samurai should change his marketing strategy and start to look at upper class segment of clients. As far as it shows on the streets, single chick driven Mercedes SLKs are on the rise!

When "expiration date" arrives, you're screwed up, let it be a retired engineer or a worn out prostitute!!!

Not sure as lots of people jump red lights here on SZ road....there does need to be control and regulation for sure :0) All 12 lanes of it. Too much traffic, too much choice....

Only a matter of adjusting the parameters slightly then:

Lebanese/Syrian, perhaps? Expensive ill fitting suit. Probably Armani or Lanvin. Gelled hair. Marlboro Lights. Rolex. Bally on the extremities. Having an very animated and a very imaginary conversation into a mobile... Meet Tony Wardeh - the pimp from Jounieh.

aussie 70 -

A good and realistic post! The other social function provided by these ladies is peacekeeping. In a country that imports largely male workers, the only way to keep them reasonably happy is to provide women. Young men will fight or screw.
(Ofr course, there's the better alternative of paying decent wages, providing decent accommodation and allowing men to bring their wives, but that's hardly the Locals' way, is it?)
You been to the Paranormal in your travels?

Well at least they should have a mandatory HIV Test for every single woman coming in on a visit/tourist visa. Considering who frequents the hooker places (and yes, they include all nationalities and all types of men, from married to single to the ones with girlfriends back home) the threat of HIV shouldnt be taken lightly.
So instead of testing the residents, why not test the visitors??

The odd 4000 are deported regulary so that the market is kept alive with fresh commodity which in turn brings in more customers. The money is then re-routed by Russian "tycoons" back into the "investor's paradise" called Dubai. The circle is now complete!

SD, congrats on the well-deserved award. Keep going tiger!

Hello,

let me spill that i'm an emirati national, also a rather conservative muslim who prays 5 times a day and does the other pillars and whatnot, I wanted to get this out of the way before anything.

I found your blog by word of mouth, and it is rather interesting to read actually. I didn't read much of it, but i'd like to tell you to keep up the great work, freedom of speech is rather limited but i really admire your work and i was meaning to ask some questions i hope you would'nt mind answering (and or bothering to answer them):

How do you find the UAE nationals like?

Do you know any nationals personally or know some who post on this blog?

And last how is life in the UAE?

One must take a drive around Bur Dubai after 3'o clock to know what kind of hypocritical PR stuff the Dubai Police are doing. Hell i could find 500 prostitutes if really take a long walk in Bur Dubai/Deira Area in one night.

However i believe it is beacuse of these sex workers that dubai is able to keep in check the potential amount of sexual atrocities that could arise. After all we have more than 1.06 Mil men compared to 0.35 Mil Women.

And as pointed out elsewhere in this blog, a labourer who earns 600 a month cannot definitely afford to bring his family across. What he could do is save enough money for two months so that he could use a AED 50 per session lady from Baraha to satisfy his sexual needs. Also keep in mind that he goes home once in two years on an average.

Dear all,

Was living in Dubai once upon a time, getting 4.000 thingies out of the country is NE3MA, every and each country reaching where UAE *Dubai* reached you’ll find those thingies laying around looking for a penny or two. At least now Dubai Government is looking at this issue and started with 4.000.

You never know the more effort they put in the bigger number they’ll get. I wonder was the nationality of the majority was HMMM???

I am confused as whether you disapprove or agree with having girls on the money in Dubai.

T'seems to me any other city is very well served in this sector. Apart from London where some B&S is the norm.

I suppose better to build churches, mosques and hey ho play Golf and claim it is a sport.

How's your sex life doin?

ever since i came to Dubai six years ago they were available
there is something though that one Pakistani told me at that time
Dubai is made of 25% women and the rest men . not having prostitutes available would lead to a lot of rapes ,abductions and possibly murders, and frankly i prefer the current situation . if they manage to deport them all we will not be sending our women alone to work any longer.
