Thank god dubai has finally started paying legal attention to cases of such critical importance to the country's growth as a hub of the world. Also keeps in tune with the vice wisions. instead of wasting time on silly cases like robbery and murder and real estate cheating and rapes, dubai as the safest city in the world demonstrates the way to make a true blue blooded modern city. wake up and smell the fart, you westerners, while dubai has wind in its sails. the answer is blowing in the wind.

I read the article in the paper today & couldn't help but chuckle. FFS, how the hell did this ever reach a court?
Jayne, this reached court because, in case you are ignorant of the fact, sex outside of wedlock is illegal in Dubai, the UAE, and the anywhere in the GCC, Pakistan, and every other more or less shariah compliant countries. (Djibouti even).
From a westerner point of view it is indeed grotesque, but that's the law around here.
Law which if I paid enough attention to the PR machine called newspaper around here is only applied to asian (Pakistani,Indian,Filipino,Chinese..) and some locals when the girl complains, not westerners. Discrimination could also be based on your gross income or the size of your car, I'm not exactly sure there.
I guess they can't go after the wealthier ones, it would severely dent the thriving business of prostitu.. er. I meant tourism.
