IMAXed out with marines
If there was any doubt about the nationality of the baseball-capped, crew-cut, popcorn-munching-coke-guzzling crowd of tank-shaped young men at Ibn Battuta IMAX - none remained after their cheery greeting to Margery:
"Howdy!"
US marines enjoying a night out. One wonders why they even bother to wear mufti, they are instantly recogniseable wherever they go. Guns, grenades and dogtags hanging out couldn't make them any more obvious.
The cinema is about the best entertainment option at the moment, with nightclubs silent and radio stations playing classical music in honour of dead King Fahd. It seems a sorry tribute for a gentleman who far preferred a more energetic nightlife, according to the BBC and various other international news organisations.

It's brilliant watching them in the passport queues at Dubai Airport - all with camouflage rucksacks stamped as property of US military. Takes us back to days of yore in Dubai when Rock Bottom was "invaded" by those coming down from Jebel Ali port, to pillage and plunder the women of Dubai.
yes brilliant to see a bunch of marines who have just butchered a few dozen Iraqi sunnis under papa bushs orders.
But what is there to watch in the Ibn Battuta IMAX? T-REX??!! The "Batman Returns" running there is not an IMAX version!!!!!
I was hopping to see the 'Episode III' on IMAX but they disappointed me bigtime.
talk about keeping a low profile.
1. There are no US bases in the UAE, the US operates on a UAE owned airbase occasionally called al dhafra.
2. The UAE and US government have an agreement, I am not one to make them change their mind but I am morally against any US Invasion of Iraq and have seen the way the marines treat iraqis on unofficial video.
