Zeus, God of the Turtles

Some happy news at last. Two days ago, 7Days reported the sad tale of a giant tortoise abduction. Zeus, whose species is endangered, was no ordinary turtle, according to his owner. He had great personality - even emerging from his shell at the sound of his own name - and loved humans and other animals:

"The owner of a 35-kilo tortoise says she fears her pet has been kidnapped, and is appealing for help. Shona Deans said maintenance workers saw two men lift the enormous creature into a black 4x4 outside her house in Al Barsha before speeding off."

But now, Zeus has returned, recovered from a Jumeira veterinary hospital:

"Apparently, people found it wandering the road and were nice enough to take care of it for two weeks but when they could do it anymore they brought it to the vet," Shona Deans (below) said.

Great blog! I will surely bookmark and link to it!

Err..sorry. I was just imitating one of the blog comment spammers. I've had less of them now that I've disabled anonymous posters.

How do you prevent them, Secret?

And regarding turtles and tortoises - there's a Filipino superstition that warns against having them as pets - they will make your life slow, similar to how they walk on land.

Pishposh.
