UAE Story of the Year 2005
Several very strong contenders for the UAE Story of the Year 2005, but after weeks of deliberating, the final judging is as follows:
In first place: Gulf News with The Comely Camel
"The official added the man told the prosecution that he had fallen in love with the camel and had sex with the animal."
Judges' comments: this story has everything: romance, tragedy, a traditional desert setting - truly the Al Romeo and Juliet of our time.
In second place: Khaleej Times with Bedroom Battle
"She did not take any action as the Moroccan woman ran away and her husband put on his clothes. Instead she called her Pakistani driver to her bedroom and asked him to strip and forced him to make love to her."
Judges' comments: the Bold and the Beautiful becomes reality. Bonus points for a strongly multi-ethnic cast. Oscar Wilde couldn't do bedroom comedy as delightfully as this.
In third place: Gulf News again, with Grin and Bare It
"Another picture was of a woman who showed her breast to the radar while she was speeding. She covered her car number plate. I hope she gets punished," he said.
Judges' comments: a traditional subject - speeding down Sheikh Zayed road - sauced up carry Carry On-style with body parts and rude salutes.

I guess you've forgotten the story (in Gulf news) about a shopkeeper/layman (can't remember who) "squeezed" the breasts of a woman right in front of her hubby..Even readers protested to tone down the language... And where in the world would you find a newspaper detailing such crimes in exquisite detail... LOL...
The best victory was the reinstatement of Secretdubai.
