Reinstate the Shah

The ongoing spat between Iran and the UAE over various disputed islands has spilled over onto fake islands. To summarise the exciting drama:

Iran: Your man-made islands will harm our environment.

UAE: That's none of your business. Your nuclear plans are a risk to the whole region. And Tehran is the world's fifth most polluted city. And give us Mousa and Tunbs back.

It's a charming example of the traditional Arab divert-the-blame game. When your opponent tosses over his ball, ignore it, and throw several other balls back at him instead. Developments on Iran's doorstop are clearly its business, so a less petulant response might be to send over the usual Nakheel dossier: Why The Palm Is The Best Thing For The Environment And Marine Biodiversity Ever.

That apart, Iran's recent transformation into the North Korea of the Gulf is a concern. The shamals blow enough Persian sand and dust over the UAE already without adding fallout to the mix. So it wasn't too much of a surprise to see this headline in the same edition of Gulf News:

Association ordered to reinstate Shah

Disappointingly, it was actually about Dubai's Indian Association. No ousting the Mad Mayor and his Mullahs just yet.

Well, personally im waiting for the impending airstrike on them, and a hopeful chance for the UAE airforce to wipe the floor with them.

Here’s another one, with a rebuttal from a Nakheel scientist.

Countries which try to develop relations with you the team your rooting for cheerleader.

When the Americans bomb them, sooner or later, theyre going to fire back. We have a very large and capable airforce that you probably dont see because youre too busy to look up in the sky since youre busy either getting boffed by your boss after you forgot to 'mob tha flawr' or your boyfriend.

Emirati,
I love u!.... u just can't stop spraying ur daydreaming scenarios everywhere...

I think if US bombs Iran, UAE will take over Iran and becomes the largest oil producer of the world... then UAE will buy Iraq and Afghanistan from US with all the oil money.. then UAE will attack and occupy Turkey and becomes part of European Union... on the other side UAE will pay US to bomb Pakistan and then UAE will take over Pakistan as well... then it remains small time countries like Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and others, no big deal... they would be afraid by then and surrender themselves.... Then UAE will pay more to US to bomb Saudi and take over Saudi... Now remains the problem of India....Until now, UAE has become so large that all the population of India will be hired as labors all over the new UAE so the India land would be empty and UAE will take over it.

By 2050, UAE population will be composed of 1,200,000 locals and 1,250,457,459 expatriates…. 2051: UAE pays to UN to scrap off the term ‘Middles East’ and replace it with Great UAE.

I think you should publish your theories in a book and name it:
“American Dream,
A Rejected Pilot’s Blaspheme
Volume I: Empire’s Upstream”

All the jokes and mud-slinging aside, why would anyone want the US to bomb Iran? I think it would be most unfortunate (and inexcusable as well) if any of the Middle Eastern countries supported an attack on Iran. I personally think (and I know Cokey will want to choke on something about this) that the UAE would not want to be caught in the middle of a US-Iran eventuality.

For all the taunts of how "dumb" Emaratis are, and all the internal problems put aside, I think the UAE follows a very diplomatic and successful foreign policy. Perhaps this is the single reason why you dont see "terrorist" and the 21st century "saviors" (NATO allies) activities here. UAE is strategically located for an attack on Iran, but so are other states. I hope for the goodness of mankind that no GCC country joins America in its ludicrous quest for regime change in Iran. And I say this with tongue-in-cheek!

The Iranians are a free nation. We need to respect that. They may have problems, but so does everyone else. This whole pre-emptive strikes-on-enemy-country-and-then-install-puppet-regime is a failed doctrine as we have seen with Iraq and Afghanistan. The idea needs to be trashed!

I shouldn't worry. I can't see Americans supporting regime change any time in the future. As you say, Afghanistan and Iraq has demonstrated that this is a collosal waste of time and money.

Nope, from now on it will be back to the Our-Son-Of-A-Bitch policy, coupled with Regime-Elimination-And-To-Hell-With-The-Consequences, by the latter I mean the same as the Iraq war but the invading troops pulling out to the peripheries as soon as the capital has fallen.

ssosw, Balushi was banned for his outlandish remarks. Clearly there are a few more who are blatantly being racist and are enjoying posting here. I hope it has nothing to do with skin tones!

He was banned for trolling. Deliberately inciting a reaction through offensive and inappropriate comments.

Which pretty much sums up what Cokey is doing, so I'm going to start deleting.

I don't mind people attempting to make controversial arguments about race and culture. Throwing out racist insults does not constitute that, in any way shape or form.

Hey everyone,

Sometimes I really do wonder why it is that people are so racist amongst each other. I am an Emirati girl and it really kills me to see people hack at each other when they sometimes don't reflect on themselves.

I have to deal with expats in Dubai not giving a chance to Emiratis trying to enter the private sector work force; indicating that they're not experienced enough and don't speak English. I bet in Japan the local citizens there are not forced to speak a language other than their own for a job! Really pushes the wrong buttons on my side. If people would just get on with their little bit in life and make an excellent job of it...then all else would work out for the best. If you keep expecting from others this world would never move forward. Everyone just do your bit and don't talk about a subject that you have no say in the decision made. Do your bit and leave the rest up to those that live and breathe the situation.

Ladies and Gentlemen; please have a bit more tolerance and less violence. The world would be a much better place!
