A super film

The following email recently arrived from an associate:

"Have you seen Superman? The plot is intriguing. Insane man tries to build offshore islands to sell as real estate "prime beachfront property" as he refers to it. His plans are then laid to waste by a man disguised as a journalist."

What a fascinating and original idea. This will be a must-see film for all sandlanders.

Here is a random comment off topic. Since I have seen others do it and get away with it, I am trying my own luck.

Much was made of the bombings in Mumbai and how everyone here was quick to attack Muslims (have the incompetent authorities of India still found out who the culprits were? Or were they too busy trying to implicate Pakistan in an attack that was conveniently planned a day before the G8 Summit?) and start a completely nauseating tirade against Islam. However, none of that is being shown for what is being witnessed in Lebanon. Although I am not surprised, this hypocrisy is pretty blatant. And as I have maintained before, Israel is counting down to the end of its existence in this part of the World.

Fortunately, not all Westerners or non-Muslims (and Muslims, too, really) are like that. The very few Westerners who have the balls to speak out against falsehood are much appreciated by people like myself. I don't care what George Galloway's political inclinations are, but here is a man who has the guts to call a spade by its name.

Here is an interesting video I found of him giving an interview to Sky News. (I hope the link works)

As for the sympathizers of humanity against terror, you all have been exposed for your vested interests for maintaining silence when blood spilled is that of Muslims.

Thats right Al Republican.

The whole 9/11 and the 7/7 and the Indian parliament attack were done by the U.S.

And Of course, the Hezbollah, the Al Qaeda and the Taleban are paragons of virtue and tolerance.

George Galloway is the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler.

Muslims cannot be trusted with the security of this planet.

Osama Bin Laden is to blame for all of todays problems. If 9/11 had not happened, the Iraq war and alot of the other ills of today would not be happening either.
Israel cannot be destroyed, but I am not sure about the rest of the middle east.

Now, now, dont be such a spoil sport, let the "terrorists" take the credit for 9/11 at least! The US remembers it as "A day of infamy" in their history. Nothing will please them more than taking blame for that strike :)

Your dogmatism is only betrayed by your ignorance of what and who the Hizbullah are. They are NOT a "terrorist" organization. If such were the case, they wouldn't be part of the Lebanese government! "Hizbullah" is actually the name of a political organization inside Lebanon. So I guess the Republicans are the Americans answer to Hizbullah?

Then again, you are just another gullible everyday guy who feeds on all the balderdash - hook, line, and sinker - that the biased western media shows you.

Thumbs up, buddy!

The shedding of innocent blood just cannot be excused.

So what is the problem? I think it's one of perception. When someone you don't like does it, it's reprehensible. When someone you like does it, there are not only excellent reasons for it, indeed there's nothing wrong with it. We are outraged at one party; we fully support the other.

(Do I need to mention that this cuts both ways....or didn't you get it? The word "like" is used loosely--it could indicate someone you support ideologically, or identify with on the basis of ethnicity or religion.)

Who is a racist? Is it someone who hates an entire people-group purely based on their ethnicity? Will the racists here please show their hands...?

Terrorism is something that is a convenient label to avoid the issues at hand. Keep fooling yourselves! Hannibal, let's see you shed some tears for Hizbullah then? :)

Al Republican,

I guess everybody is wrong and Al qaeda, hezbollah and Taleban are the right.

Pakistan supports terrorists.

The Kashmir problem was started and is supported by Pakistan.

All these so called freedom fighters turn their cause into a religious war. No one else does. They are the ones quoting the Quran before they kill people. They are the ones to blame for the "misconceptions" about muslims not the rest of the world.

And your point about Hezbollah being a political organisation - of course I know that. But they cease being a legitimate political party when they went into Israel and kidnapped soldiers. Did they do that with the consent of the Lebanese govt or the people?? Nope. So they acted outside the law. Guess who else acts outside the law?? If you guessed terrorists, you just won a box of grenades.

Those comments are a clear testimony that you believe this whole "funded and trained by a foreign force" bull shit! And are you sure Indian Muslims are living in peace? Last time I checked there was a state-sponsored attack on Muslims in Gujrat.

Hannibal, by the look of things, you appear to be Indian. In case you are, here is a couplet from Allamah Iqbal (who incidentally had also written "saray jahan say acha hindustan hamara") that talks about religious freedoms versus the larger picture. I won't translate it in English because if you are not of Indian origin then this wouldn't apply to you:

Mullah ko jo hai Hind main sajday kee ijazat;

Oooh Earthbound Misfit, you really know soooo much about this conflict, dont you? I will leave the Pakistani gibberish aside and let you go on that one. But, you know oh so well that Hizbullah is not legit because they went against the Lebanese government and blah blah blah.

Why is it a habit of uneducated, incoherent fools to open their mouths at every given opportunity when Angels would fear to tread such a path! Let us educate your ignorant self, shall we?

Since your ignorant clock starts 11th of July when the Hizbullah attacked a MILITARY post and killed 3 Israeli SOLDIERS and took 2 other as captives, let me remind you that in the month of June, 2006, Israel sent an apache helicopter right into Lebanese territory (very close to downtown Beirut) and just like that BOMBED and KILLED a member of the Lebanese parliament! And then while you were sitting at home digging your nose and smelling your belly button, you probably didnt notice how 2 weeks after this Israel KIDNAPPED 2 members of parliament from INSIDE lebanon in a commando operation.

Then came the final nail in the coffin when a 12-year old girl from Ghaza (Huda) family was obliterated while they were picnicing at the beach. She has now been adopted by Shaykh Khalifa bin Zayed, may God bless him.

All this while, you also were unaware of how Lebanon is STILL under Israeli occupation (Sheba farms, ever heard of it, Sir?)! But, you believe that in the year 2000 Hizbullah beat the Israelis out of Southern Lebanon. Somehow your media never told you that they still didn't move out of the entire lebanese territory even in the year 2006 against UN resolutions.

But, what the heck, life is more convenient if you just fast forward everything and cling on to the things that make you live happily in your bubble. Gugu gaga!

New revelations, eh buddy? Acted outside the law you say? Hogwash! And I haven't even told you most of the other things that happened before 7/11! Subscribe to a newspaper and bloody read it for a change!

As we've anyway hijacked SD's post, might as well ask if anyone has read the AP report on Palm Islands finally opening doors or gates, or whatever they will open for residents in November (if all goes according to plan).
Anyway, halfway through the PR blurb it finally gets interesting:

"The $14 billion project is a key part of this booming city's ambitions to rival Singapore and Hong Kong as a business hub, and surpass Las Vegas as a leisure capital."

- Does this mean we are finally getting (gasp) casinos here?

"Some of the new land sank and Nakheel needed an extra year to add more and pack it with vibrating land compactors. Reports from those who have wandered through the island's giant homes describe them as cheaply finished and set uncomfortably close to one another. Nakheel rejected an Associated Press request to visit the island."

- Because if the allowed a visit, their pack of cards will come crashing down on their silly heads.

"Overburdened roads in Dubai's Jumeirah Beach neighborhood are expected to clog further as people begin moving onto the island, accessible, for now, by a single bridge. Mainlanders have already put up with years of road works and innumerable trucks hauling boulders to the island."

- Joy to the world! We have more traffic and more traffic and more traffic and more....

Starting with Al-Pashtuno:

Hahaha, dude! Those were some of the funniest comments I have read in quite a while!

Moving on (quite quickly, too!) let me just clear out something about the Mumbai Blasts I brought up here. I have never doubted or questioned involvement of the ISI in certain attacks inside India just like I have never doubted certain attacks inside Pakistan by RAW. My only point was that whereas we had an outpour of emotions (and mind you there was no thread for it, just going OFF topic) there were lots of people who went ahead and started bashing Islam and Muslims for the attacks in Mumbai. Just like that!

I have my reasons to believe that this particular attack was "manufactured" by the Indian Intelligence. And I also believe that there are many attacks INSIDE Pakistan that are carried out by Pakistani Intelligence all in the name of getting people's minds away from the actual issues. As for militant groups being "backed" by Pakistan that is just hogwash! I personally have a soft spot for some of these militant groups (they are not all about bombings and killing kaafirs or whatever your guys believe in), but even I will tell you that the Pakistani establishment is DEAD against them! Why? Because they pose a challenge to the regime! Dare I say, they also pose a MAJOR threat to US threats in this region.

What shocks me is the gullibility of Indians these days who have been desensitized by watching too many Bollywood movies, I guess. The Mumbai blasts were indeed a sad episode and the scale was huge! 7 detonations in seven different locations and one that didn't go off (conveniently, I guess). That's eight breaches of security and 8 times the failure of the Intelligence to even predict anything and to issue an alert!

To make matters even worse, it has been a month almost and they haven't come up with anything of who the culprits were! In fact, check all of Indian media - absolutely NOTHING on this terrorist strike! No follow up, no nothing!

So when you guys were so emotional about pointing fingers at who carried out these attacks, why aren't you all able to go off topic and show some solidarity for the Lebanese?

Finally, to Hannibal. Sir, your quick trivia is little less than idiotic. The answers are pretty easy and I guess you are only looking for answers so that you can inflate your own ego. Politically, you don't know much. Which is why you failed to add something that many Indians might be thumping their chests about in the near future. I guess you will never find out until the event happens, so I will just tell you beforehand: The next UN secretary general might be an Indian! :) So I guess you can update your trivia database and add another feather to your "roosi topi"! Or just hold on to your horses till it happens.

He has very good support by neo-con Christians in the West, so I think he has a good chance of making it!

Just to elaborate my point on Indians slumber and their governments approval of Israeli hegemony in this part of the World, please try reading some of the comments that have been appearing on "Letters to the Editor" section of Khaleej Times. For your own convenience, I will just paste one here:

A deliberate act?
9 August 2006

INDIA is seen by many as being anti_Muslim. More so as reports came in recent times of its alliance with Israel in respect of military technology etc.

This looks very odd. How can such prominent Arabic channels be taken off screens under one or other pretext? Is this a coincidence or a deliberate act? Only time can prove, why it was done this way?

If India thinks Israel is right, and the Arabs wrong, the fact is also that India cannot benefit from Israel. It benefits a lot from the Arab world. It should not have allowed the Arab channels to go off air.

- Ismail, by email

While I know that the Indian polity largely believes in allying with Israel, I also know that some Indians are unaware of this alliance. I am trying to bring it into peoples' attention because I have a feeling of where this entire conflict is leading up to.

I am also aware that not so long ago, India was acutally very much a supporter of the Palestinian question. In fact, India had earned a lot of praise and support in the Arab World for their excellent stance against the Suez Canal question in the '50s as opposed to Pakistan's who sided with the Americans (as usual).

AL-REPUBLICAN, You have a soft spot towards terrorists, you say...Where, might I ask? Deep in your loins? Cause they really need the loving you know? They've been sheep humping all these years just like you've been in your fucking cave...and now that they've reached an age when they actually hit the peak of thier maturity - they realise that their lovely General hasn't really done jackshit for them. They'd like to show him who's the boss, but if they really did that, our loving general would wipe them clean with the help of the kafirs (and for you/them a kafir is anything - even a fucking stone or a boulder). So whadda they do? They make their way to India, not in the hopes of truly bombing it to smithereens, but in the hope of actually liberating themslves - and at the same time detonating some bombs even when they have their ample bossomed indian actresses pictures in their wallets....uh...sorry, u fellas dont have that...I mean loins. Most of them try to disappear before they execute their part of the agreement, but some organise something pretty extravagant like what happened a few days back.

You needn't be worried about any freaking sensitivites that Indans have/haven't. Because, sadly to your utter surprise - it didn't have the effect you bet your pimpled lard ass it would have. You're probably someone who's very much connected to those bombers or someone who's a friend of a friend of a sheep humper of theirs, as this incident still gives you the creeps. IT's gonna give you sleepless nights, I suggest you get some more sheep for company. On films, bollywood films are far better than the soft porn churned out in mainstream pakistani films.

Heres some info for those who'd like to know what is and isn't allowd in Pak theatres. A couple who've just tied the knot aren't allowed by their "Censors" to be seen even pecking each other. What is allowed? A scene of a woman milking a cows udder. Real food for thought, I'd say - it's the best form of mind porn I've ever come across. And not to forget those ultra heavy busty lard asses prancing around in the middle of a park.

Before you go around mocking another country, think of the state of yours and then try pointing a finger at it. Try the same in Balushistan, and you'd be left with a stump as the rest of them munch your fingers away like a candy bar.

I agree with you when you say that Pakistan shouldn't exist, but perhaps my timeline would be in 2030 or thereabouts. In fact, I believe no Muslim country sould exist in the year 2030; it should all be one contiguous piece of land where there are no boundaries. Ruled by a true representative central body with a single currency and a standard set of laws throughout Islamic lands. It may sound like a dream, but I never claimed to be a realist. I am an idealist in the truest sense of the word. And I firmly believe that we will get to this goal, in sha Allah.

I know the people who largely come here don't care about such things. I have chosen this forum because I feel it is a microcosm of the actual world. I am trying to gain attention, no denying that. But, not for myself, but for mostly people who work here in Dubai.

Since Dubai has hardly any political life, most people here end up becoming very numb to political realities. To them life is just going to work, going to the bar etc. It is a very individualistic society.

In frustrating people like yourself, I am hoping to wake you all up to the reality of what is going around us. You guys may not like it, but I feel it is important that people are woken up from this slumber. After all, doesnt this blog often talk about the plight of the downtrodden? Clearly, there is a larger picture.

It saddens me that people here (muslims even) care so much about being kicked out of bars and make it such an issue and no one bothers about gross injustices such as that of Lebanon. And there is a strong lebanese contingent in Dubai!

The day SD runs out of patience, she can ban me here. Till then, I am going to ride my luck.

Yes. People do what makes them individually happy, not for the sake of friends of family. Sometimes, it's what's wrong in the eyes of "society", but they'll do it anyway *because it makes them happy*.

No one has to 'care' about Lebanon. It's a personal choice. If it's yours, good for you, but people have a right to reject that choice.
