Pretty women

Everyone's favourite rake-about-town, Sir Raffles of Rutshire, jets in to the sandlands for a week's sun in Abu Dhabi and a week's snow in Dubai. Sipping a mug of mulled Vimto at the Avalanche cafe, he enthuses about the convenience of the UAE for the international cad:

"It's all here: beaches, clubs, sun, sea and snow."

Sadly, one of the sandlands' most famous attractions may be somewhat diminished when Sir Raffles next visits. For many of the downtown ladies are being rounded up and sent back home:

A source in a popular hotel in Bur Dubai said police asked "all suspicious women to step out of the clubs and checked their identification papers before arresting a few."

What exactly is a "suspicious woman"? Do the police perhaps use some kind of points system, where if someone scores more than three out of five then they're sent packing? "Miniskirt: check. East Asian/Russian appearance: check. Enjoys evening strolls around Golden Sands: check. Right love - on your bike."

And what about the myriad of more-modestly dressed ladies with valid visas and even wedding rings who supplement their pin money by visiting five star hotels with various gentlemen friends?

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that "woman in club" doesn't automatically equal "suspicious woman" and that the police aren't herding all of them out of clubs for, um, spot checks.

I believe that a 'suspicious woman' is one who does not believe my "tissue of lies and deceit" when I attempt to explain where I just spent the evening.

Sir Raffles needn't fret. while some of the ladies will be dispensed with for PR purposes, other ladies, newer models I imagine, will be imported as replacements. One's lovely stroll in the Golden Sands block of Bur Dubai, and visits to all hotels will still be replete with the trafficked ladies. Though it is a crying shame about the Cyclone. UNICEF should declare it a heritage site.

Today's VII Days says that Emiratis must fill a significant percentage of all positions. 'All' should include the Cyclone.

AAAh... this is very simple :
Business women have expiry date, perhaps they check if the expiry date is due so they get the old meat out and replace it with fresh ones.

Dealing with this is exactly how Etisalat deals with their services. One word : Monopoly. There shouldn't be many hands in this market and money should flow in certain pockets.

Aprat from that, any dumb person living in Dubai will know if a place is used for prsotitution or not. If you're stupid enough, read Time Out magazine, then whatever club that is not mentioned there is the market place!!

"A friend of mine is dating twenty women in a week IN-FRONT OF EVERYONE, but no one knows that!"

Hey Balushi, How does HE know? If they're "all" wearing the veil how can he tell? Maybe he's just dating one very enerjetic one....

don't tell me they are going to shut down the meat market !!! where will all the butchers and cattle go ??? what about the sailors , they won't dock here anymore they will move somewhere else. I doubt that they will, they probably are just rattling the cage a bit , someone must have pissed them off a bit. The meat market helps the economy they won't throw in the towel! Cyclone is one of the real landmarks of the city more known than anything else

Balushi,

Perhaps your "friend" is dating twenty veiled men? You might wanna get Austin Powers on the job.

screwed_mind suggested that "If you're stupid enough, read Time Out magazine, then whatever club that is not mentioned there is the market place!!"

Time Out selectively shows a couple clubs (but not all of these places) and will comment upon their "overly friendly women" and "lots of candy for the eyes" and "specials for members". Why Rumours and Cyclone get mentioned but not other of these clubs is a good question. I also note that Emirates Airlines in-flight entertainment magazine has always contained an ad for Cyclone in a prominent place. I know it's ad money, but this is also Dubai, and if it's not a "seal of approval" I don't know what is.

Unfortunately, that magazine will probably go away as more EK flights move to the 500-channel entertainment systems with the ad-free channel guide.

The Arab approach to female sexuality is really baffling. On the one hand, countries like Saudi Arabia force women to viel whether they want to or not, on the other, prostitution is apparently as wide-spread in the Middle East as it is in any other part of the world. How do Arab women cope with this convoluted approach to sexual relations? Or maybe they don't really care as long as they are fed, housed and driven around?

If you are a woman who is famous enough nobody cares whether you're dating a man or have an adulterous relationship and all that stuff that the government says to have under control. If you are Gail Clough, the famous ex DJ, you can have an affair with a married Finnish man but nobody cares...justice it's not blind and laws are not the same for everybody in the Great Dubai

Do you know what western guys do, dear Balushi? Well this Finnish guy (sauolonen, saukonen, or some Finnish "onen") who's dating my beloved Gail was charged with harassing or raping one of his patients! Well, boy, he's still here and the Dubai Police did nothing (perhaps the victim was jailed!) just coz he had GOOD FRIENDS. No matter if you're a man or a woman you must have the RIGHT FRIENDS and nobody cares if you kill someone!

Yes, my post about Saukkonen is true. I know what happened for the poor woman searched help from layer I know. At the end she filed a claim to Dubai Police but nothing happened, she's trying to inform higher authorities, I hope she'll be able to. Saukkonen even has his lover here (that Gail Clough)...but nobody touches him. Don't send neither your wife nor her friends!!!

Well my previous post didn't appear, maybe it was moderated. I'm not kidding about Saukonen. This woman has also filed a claim to Dubai Police, but nothing happened...Well known and rich people, they may be adulterous, or harassed a patient, who cares...
