Thou shalt reside in my smelly hovel

Some sense in the courts for an Al Ain wife who didn't like living in the "stinking accommodation" her husband provided her:

"The woman had filed the lawsuit in Al Ain Shariah Court of First Instance against her husband seeking a ‘proper accommodation’, claiming the one provided by her husband was not fit to live in — being quite old and in dilapidated condition with horrible smells.

"In return, defendant husband filed a counter lawsuit in the very court demanding his wife to obey him, and take his permission before going outdoors."

Chances of this couple reaching their golden wedding anniversary: snowflake/hell.

This goes without saying.. the wife has to obey the husband no? even if she has to live outside in the stinking heat!

On a more serious note this reminds me how people (of various religions) seem to forget the strict rules set down by Islam about marriage, and polygamy. Under the former the husband (and wife) have a lot of requirements to fulfill which generally don't get considered today and are overshadowed by things like dowries and such like.

As for the latter, if people observed the proper cases when polygamy they would see that it only applies to a very few set of people. This is due to the financial, time, and other restraints it places mainly on the husband as he has to divide his time and money (and attention) equally between all wives (which in my opinion is impossible). Hence why most people who have polygamous marriage aren't probably doing things properly.

To those that lamely quote the prophet (pbuh) as having numerous wives so it must be ok for us all. Well, I ask you to learn more about the circumstances of his marriages and to remember that only one wife was actually a virgin.

Sorry, a slight diversion but you're right.. I don't see that marriage lasting very long!

Lool this part cracked me up too much. No wonder so many locals are getting divorced now. Really people should start looking at Dr Phil and stop being so unreasonable.

She probably used the excuse of having "stinking accomodation" to move away from Al Ain to save her chewing her own fingers off from boredom...............

Isn't it crazy how culture and conditioning can rule our lives? Which, to some degree, is silly since it's all just socially agreed upon "contracts" - even though I realize that, in many cases it's all ultimately tied to religion - which is, also a socially agreed upon contract. See my point?

You have a GREAT blog, by the way! Fun and interesting!
